Welcome to the
Flint Memorial Library's new website , designed by Margarita Drozdoff,
of Inkling Studios in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The website was
sponsored by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services,
made possible by the Library Services and Technology Act and administered
by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
While working
with the designer to create the new site, we solicited suggestions
from the staff and the public. Please take a moment to look
at the site's new features.
The library catalog
and online databases are accessible from every page. There's a calendar
of events. For teens, there's now a web log or "blog" created
by our Youth Services Librarian, Christi Showman.
You will also
notice many new photographs of members of the North Reading community.
We like to think of the library as a friendly place and hope
you do, too.

From the Designer:
An organization's
purpose, staff, patrons and physical environment all contribute
to a website's design.
The Flint Memorial
Library, a welcoming and traditional New England building, sits
on a hill, framed clearly against the sky.
Inside, tall
arched windows create sunlit spaces. The friendliness of the staff,
the comfortable nooks with chairs and lamps, and the displays of
art throughout the building all contribute to a warm, inviting environment.
The library's engagement with the community
was evident through endorsements and engaging photos of events such
as last year's North Reading Reads.
These elements
all contributed to the site design.
Graphic designer
Steve DiFranza's illustration of the library leant itself perfectly
as an icon image for the pages.
