JOB SEARCH AND NETWORKING INFORMATION

The library held its first Job Search Workshop in April and plans to hold regular programs in the future. A tip exchanged that day: find a buddy to help you with your resume; practice mock interviews; and attend job fairs with you. Please keep watch for dates and times of future job search workshops.

The Career Place, 100 Sylvan Road, at Trade Center Park, in Woburn, offers employment and career services. The center is open to all.

In addition to the well-known Monster.com and Careerbuilder.com, there are many other job search websites that may be helpful to those seeking employment:

Jobsicle
,a local site, offers information about career assessment, resumes, interviewing, education and training, and the hidden job market.

Some sites are tailored to specific job searches. SchoolSpring.com is geared toward those searching for work in schools. HigherEdjobs.com is also a good, targeted site.

Take a look at biospace.com for jobs in biotech and science and Idealist.org for nonprofit work. Workforce50.com lists positions aimed at workers 50 and older. job-hunt.org also provides company and other tailored search sites.

Those interested in a green career will find the Green Careers Guide useful.

The Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) offers a variety of helpful employment sites.
